Travelling alone
I'm planning to take a trip to London by myself in November/December, should I be concerned about safety (that is, any more than any other major city) ?
|
Nope. London is a great place to travel alone. It's very safe and there is a lot to do and see without ever feeling lonely. Consider joining some of the London walks. www.walks.com That way you will perhaps meet other travellers to eat with. Eating is the hardest part of being alone. Bring a book, a journal, and eat in pubs or your hotel bar. Have a great time!

When traveling alone the 3 cities I feel safest in are London, Edinburgh and Munich. London is a wonderful place for a solo woman.

London is safe. You'll see signs in the tube warning you of pickpockets. Perosnally I take cabs if I'm alone after 10:00 rather than taking the tube. The cabbies are great and I get delivered right to my hotel. The walks are a great idea to meet others. Also, don't hesitate to get theater tickets and go alone. Others do and you may have the chance to see shows that others can't because you're buying a single ticket.

London, The only place where cabbies can call you "sweetie, doll, honey, love...." and get away with it!

Grasshopper -

Good God - what kind of uptight woman gets upset about a cab driver calling her one of those things?
