Traveling to Scotland
My husband and I are arriving in Glasglow on Dec. 26. We plan to drive up in the highlands, weather permitting, and are looking for a b&b or castle or some great place to stay on the evening of Dec. 26. We plan to travel back to Edinburgh the next evening. We also are looking for recommendations for a place to stay in Glasglow, as well. Any suggestions?

Glengarry Castle Hotel (www.glengarry.net) is a lovely place in the highlands -- but be prepared for a decent drive on twisting roads (anywhere heading into the highlands). Great service, beautiful location.

Carleen

This begs sooo many questions. So I make the following assumptions:-
1. You will drive
2. Money may not be "no object" but i's not the driving force
3. You do not want to drive all day both days.
4. You will not arrive too late in Glasgow.
5. You want mountains rather than sea

On all those assumptions I suugest that you stay at Farleyer House in perthsire on the 26th and at One Devonshire Gardens when you are in Glasgow.

Feel free to follow up with further questions.

A bit north of Glengarry castle near Loch Ness we like the Glen Morriston Arms. They are on the internet so you can do a search to find them. On the pricy side but definately a treat. Not a bad drive from Glasgow or Edinburgh and it definately gets you in the Highlands. With a casual drive, consider it may take 4 hours from either location, but worth it for the scenery. Once there, the rooms are beautiful and food is great. Romantic and charming. Look for the Highland cattle across the street in the morning!
