Traveling to Edinburgh for 2 days

I will be traveling to Edinburgh in July for 2 days. I am going to see the castle, but I would like some suggestions for other "can't miss" sites. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

We really enjoyed our tour of the underground vaults where people used to live.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse and its abbey ruins, walk pass The Scottish Parliment on your way to Holyrood, the Museum of Scotland, National Gallery of Scotland, walk up or down the Royal Mile, St. Giles Cathedral and the Thistle Chapel, walk up to Arthur's Seat, especially on a fine day, The Royal Yacht Britannia and the Royal Botanic Garden. These are just a few possibilities, but I would certainly put them on a first time visitor's list. Choose according to your interests and be sure to stop in a pub for some refreshment.

From the castle you can head down the royal mile and take in http://www.camera-obscura.co.uk/ which is worth a visit and some cool views of the city. Then keep going down the and you can do the underground tours at http://www.realmarykingsclose.com/ which is an intersting perspective of the old town. If you go down Mary's Close you come out onto Cockburn Street and a nice little restaurant on Craigs Close at http://www.chang-thai.co.uk for your evening meal. Eh viola that is your day planned for you
