Traveling from portugal going to San Sebastian, Spain

We are taking a lovely vacation in Portugal and need to drive to San Sebastián, Spain and into France. Does anyone have any ideas the most scenic or fastest way to drive there?

Please note that if you pick up the car in Portugal and do not return the car to Portugal, there is usually a high drop off penalty. And some rental companies will do it all.

Ok. Thanks for tip.

If driving taking the Duoro Valley route from Porto towards spain and Salamanca, a sonderful city and then via Leon, also nice to Burgos - bilboa a wslight detour to Salamanca.

There is an overnight train from Lisbon and Port to goes direct to San Sebastia/Donostia - the latter the name preferred bu local Basques over the Spanish occupiers name San Sebastian. then take the Train Eskro commuter train to Hendaye, France and pick up a car there to avoid possible steep dropoff charges like IMDonehere mentions.

BTW if you drive in spain it is a law I believe that if you wear glasses needed to drive you must have a spare pair with you at all times in the car - roadside checks for various things may include this!

if you're driving, I would suggest Salamanca, Valladolid [don't miss the polychromatic sculpture museum - honestly, it's terrific1] and Burgos.

Yes, as suggested, if driving from Porto, Salamanca and then Burgos would be great stops on the way to San Sebastian.

Probably 3 to 4 hours drive between cities

We were in these cities a few months ago for the first time and loved them.
