Traveling from Center of London to LHR
We will be in London middle of July. Our last day we fly out of LHR at 10am. Is it easy to hop on the picadilly line to get to the airport early in the morning or would it be best to just stay at a Hotel near the airport ?? I realize it is a boring topic but would appreciate help.

Piccadilly line to LHR is easy as pie, straight shot with no connections. No need to waste your last night in London at an airport hotel. You don't say exactly where you are staying but using Leicester Square as an example, if you take the tube at leaving at 0634 you would arrive LHR by 0725 which should be plenty of time for check in. Only issue would be if you had an excessive amount of luggage in which case taxi would be easier.

Agreed...I might be a tad concerned if it were a Sunday or a holiday when the tube starts up a bit later (although that's the way it's been done in the past but I think I read somewhere tfl is considering on some lines going to a much wider schedule but I don't think it's been done yet but I could be wrong). Other than that, if you're close to the Picadilly line, just hop on. Just remember to take the right train. If you're heaing for terminal 1,2,3 or 5 take the train marked terminal 5. If you're heading to terminal 4, take the train marked terminal 4. (Terminal 4 trains will get to terminal 1,2,3 station after a bit of a wait at the end of the line at terminal 4).

In addition to pre-booked cars, you can also use Uber. Flat rates from the West End to LHR are £37/£60/£75, depending upon whether you use uberX or one of the more premium services. I would thunk uberX would be similar in quality to many/most other cheap pre-booked services. Downside is the risk that there are no drivers available when you need to go.

Justairports quotes £41 for Soho to Heathrow, so a bit more than uberX. My experience with justairports was not at the level of the premium uber services, but I suspect it varies from driver to driver. The primary appeal of uber is the convenience of booking the car.

However you get to the airport, please check your airline suggestions for their recommendation on how long before the flight you should arrive. I believe for long-haul, it's 3 hours and short haul is 2.
