Any agent can find you direct planes, at full fare. To cut fares you could look at Athens to London and London to Madrid on http://www.cheapflights.co.uk.

You might like, too, to see the sites for two no-frills airlines, htp://www.easyjet.com for both legs of your trip, and http://www.virgin-express.com for London to Madrid.

If time allows you can take a morning bus for eight hours from Voyages Liossis, 50 Chalkokondyl Street, Athens, to Patras, then the Adriatica boat 14 hours overnight to Brindisi, have a day in Brindisi, and by taking sleepers in night trains can have a day each in Rome, Nice, and Barcelona, or a day each in Milan and Barcelona. It will cost you a deal more than the no-frills planes.

Ben Haines

Ray

You haven't given us a date but I tried 10th August on Expedia for the cheapest tickets between Athens and Madrid and two selections,Iberia and Lufthansa, came in at around £185 per person, one way.

There's a good chance that the price will decrease (or increase for that matter) depending on the exact date of travel. May be worth checking the site out at:-

http://expedia.msn.co.uk/

I haven't a clue what the U.S. site address is but I think the same information will be on both.

Another address to have a look at is:-

http://www.tiss.com (sign on as a Guest User)

Bill

Try www.lowcostairlines.org

This site lists airlines with lowest costs for travel within Europe.

Guidebooks also claim that Athens is the center of discount airfares within Europe .. but this means risking not getting your tickets until you arrive in Athens.
