TRAVELING FROM FLORENCE, WHICH IS EASIER AND QUICKET TO GET TO POSITANO OR SORRENTO, AND THEN AFTER 2 NITES, NEED TO RETURN BACK TO ROME TO FLY HOME - ANY SUGGESTIONS?

You will come to Sorrento first, then have to travel on to Positano. You can catch a train to Sorrento, via Rome and Naples then a bus to Positano. Positano is about 30 min drive from Sorrento, round a winding coast road with gorgeous views.
Also - it's not polite to use caps - YOU ARE SHOUTING!

Sorrento would be easiest. Eurostar from Florence-Rome- Naples. Not sure if you have to change trains in Rome. Then about a 45 minute trip by car or a little more by local train to Sorrento. Try to take a day trip to Positano by BOAT. You'll miss the gorgeous coastline views, but also avoid the horrendous summer traffic.

Good luck!

The train lines end at Sorrento so if you want to continue to Positano you will have to get a bus or taxi.
