Traveling Around Amalfi
Can anyone suggest a good driver to use when staying/traveling around Amalfi. We are two couples arriving in Naples (mid Sept) by train and would like a driver to transfer us to our hotel in Praiano (Hotel Tritone) and to take us for day trips. Also can anyone tell me what I should expect to pay for a transfer from Naples to Praiano. We are not interested in renting a car but would prefer to use local transportation.

Thanks in advance for your assitance!!

Caroline, Have the hotel make the arrangements. They do it all the time and have good contacts. Expect to pay about $150 for the transfer. You will like the hotel. Good luck !

I use Giancarlo Garguilo. His cell# in Italy is: 011 39 3335226029. You can go to his site: www.tourofitaly.com

He and his father, Giovani, operate in the Amalfi coast area. Their base is Sorrento, however, we used them to take us all over the Amalfi coast the 1st time. The 2nd time Giancarlo picked us up in Florence and drove us to meet our family in Calabria. The last time he took us to Calabria and then on to Sicily! They even invited us to their home for dinner, which we enjoyed tremendously.

They are wonderful and conscientious professionals. Their vehicles are Mercedes, air conditioned, and smoke free.

Tell them Mary Theresa from Chicago recommended them.

Mary
Tritone contact
Caroline: contact Giuseppe Gagliano ([email protected]), nephew of manager at Hotel Tritone, for help on arranging transportation. He may even be interested in picking you up himself. Tell him AZ referred you.
You have selected a wonderful hotel; the balcony views are more sweeping than any other hotels I have seen on the A. Coast.
Enjoy!
P.S. Be sure to ask for the omelet and apricot juice for at least one breakfast!

Hello Caroline,

It's a mistake to get off the train at Naples if you're going to Praiano. You should instead continue to SALERNO, which is much closer. If you're travelling from Rome (or further north) you can catch an Inter-city or Eurostar train direct to Salerno).

From Salerno to Praiano a transfer will cost you about $50-60.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Hello again Caroline,

CORRECTION - I retract the above. My mistake!

Hi Caroline, Don't have an answer for you but wondered when you were going to be at Hotel Tritone. My husband and I are booked 9/20 thru 9/24, 24 we are on to Capri and then to Rome.
