Traveling Alone
What areas in Ireland are safe for a woman to travel alone?
Is it easy to get from London to Dublin? |
I have travelled all over Ireland on my own and never had any problems. It is very safe there, and I just took the normal precaution that I do at home. The people are so friendly and helpful.
I wouldn't hesitate to travel to Ireland again on my own. Flying from London to Dublin is your best bet, but I have done the train and ferry as well. It's fun if you have the time. Go and enjoy! |
Ireland is a blast to do alone. I went to Galway, Doolin, Dingle, Kinsale, and Adare (for one night) and had a wonderful, safe time. As anywhere, just use your common sense.
If you want to read a fun book on the charms of Ireland and its people, "Round Ireland with a Fridge" by Tony Hawkes is a comical read. McCarthy's Bar is another good one I'm reading (by Pete McCarthy). |
It would be easier to list areas that would be unsafe - basically - dark alleys or deserted streets in cities.
Honestly, Anyplace a tourist would likely find herself will be OK. Ireland is really a safe place to visit - just take minimal, sensible precautions and you will be fine. |
Hi-I went to London, Dublin, Belfast ands Spain on my own in August. I had a great time. Lots of fun people..they are nice everywhere. During the day there were a few times I wish I had someone there-but not often.
Nights I went to fun pubs or tours etc..was great.. I think it depends what you like to do and how comfortable you are on your own. I did not say I was on my own much but when I did people were always surprised "What-your on your own-really" and tried to fix me up or something..lol Great time and I would go on my own again in a flash-let me know if you have any other questions.
