Travelers insurance?
 

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon through northern Italy and France for the end of May / beginning of June and are concerned about the pending war. Personally I don't want to let this ruin our trip, but I don't know how realistic that is. Are you canceling your travel plans? What about travelers insurance? Is it worth it? I'd like to hear your opinions...Thanks in advance

I only bought travels insurance on one occassion. The insurance would allow me to cancel my trip for any reason. I got the insurance because things at work weren't going too great. Anyway, due to events at work, I was forced to cancel the trip. I got half the money back and half back in travel vouchers which had to be used within a year. It worked out fine for me because I travel often each year. <BR><BR>If you are nervous, insurance might be a good option for you. Also, if you do get the insurance, ask whether you get cash or vouchers back. If you get vouchers back ask more questions. For one thing, I found out that my vouchers had a one year limit and had to be used with the same tour agency. They also tried to force me to get insurance when I used the vouchers which would have meant that the insurance was actually twice the price.

Hi, Mike. Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. For the price - around $100 per person, you can get piece of mind. The only thing you need to insure for is non-refundable items, which is usually only air tickets. I've purchased it recently for a lot of different reasons and will do so for my planned trip this year to England. Just remember to get it at the same time as you reserve.

Where did you get insurance for your airline tickets? An independant agency? I have already purchased mine....can I still get it?? help

Read the policies carefully. Some will exclude &quot;war&quot; and other conflicts.

I think that travel insurance never was a good deal, and the prospect of war does not change that.<BR><BR>No insurance policy will reimburse you to cancel a trip simply because you are &quot;too nervous&quot; about war in Iraq, and the possibility of it making you feel uncomfortable in France and Italy.<BR><BR>And in the event that you are scheduled to travel to a country which is actually &quot;at war&quot; with (the US or) any (other) country, their exclusion of benefits in the event of war will eave you out in the cold as well.<BR>
