Travel with 1 year old to Cannes
 

My daughter, her husband, son (4-1/2 years), and 1 year old daughter will be traveling to Paris for 2 days, and Cannes for 4 days this August. How many of you have traveled with you little ones abroad, and do you feel that it would be too long for a 1 year old who is a crawler and ready to walk soon? My daughter really wants to show off her daughter to her friend. My son-in-law walked the plane aisles with a crying baby on a trip to California. (The baby is older now and may be better behaved.) It's a chance they're taking, in that regard, on the long flight.

I think the flight will be the least of their problems, especially if they can arrange to go at night. The interruption of the kids' regular schedule due to the time difference is hard. We tried this once when our kids were babies, and almost wound up divorced. I don't mean to be so brutally honest, but that's the way it was!

Thanks for being so honest! I can imagine that it would be hard for them when they get there with the 1 year old. They'll have to make a decision about it when the time gets closer.

Yes, and I can just imagine what it was like for those passengers on that flight hearing a crying baby going up and down the aisles. I think there may be easier and better ways (for the CHILD) to "show them off" than this, to be quite honest about it...guess this must be one of those "family values" things, right?

I have travelled with children of that age, and it was never a problem on the flight. However, 6 days is a very short trip; I assume they are flying from the US? By the time they are used to the time difference, they are leaving again. I have a 4 1/2 year old, and he would be fine with a trip like that, but unless they are staying in Europe for a longer time, I would personally prefer to leave to baby with Grandma!

I totally agree with Tulips. As I said earlier, the time difference was a nightmare with our kids. Great idea to leave the baby with grandma or another relative. The baby will probably be a lot happier and more comfortable.
