travel w two sons 7/5 Monaco April any suggested side trips for 3 days

We were thinking of visiting Venice after Monaco (husband has never been) - is it too much/far with these guys even though they travel better than me Where would be cool for kids but easy to get to by train or plane?

Have no idea why you would take small children to Monaco. It is a very sophisticated and expensive place designed for the uber wealthy off the incredibly large yachts in the harbor. Granted you can see the Royal Palace and an aquarium - but there is eally very little for kids to do - and at very high prices.

Not sure what your entiere trip consists of - but there are a lot of places along the riviera that are much more family oriented and would have things you would all enjoy - and a tmuch more reasonable prices. (And I think the kids would enjoy Venice - canals, boats, bell towers and buildings to ascend and even the Lido if you want a beach - much more than Monaco.)

Thank you for your response. Besides hating to leave them over a holiday this is 100 % Company paid reward trip during our stay in Monaco 5 days 4 nights- including Activity Selections French Riviera Cruise, Tour of the Fragonard Perfume Factory & Eze Village, Tour to Villefranche Sur Mer - fantastics children's parties in the pm so adults can enjoy some free time......i agree venice is so unusual - awesome for my boys....just wasn't sure if it was pushing it after monaco to train or plane to Venice for two nights then to Rome to flight home to Pittsburgh. xoxo r

I can't see anything there your sons would enjoy (except maybe the night time babysitting parties).

Whether it is Venice or not, I'd definitely take them somewhere after Monaco.

I leave for Monaco tomorrow and will keep an eye out for where families and children seem to be having fun! Are you flying into and out of rome?? (that confused me) Venice would be a bit of a hike regardless as you will probably end up with connecting flights or an overnight train. As an example, for my husband to get from Barcelona to Nice(Monaco) he has to connect thru madrid. actually, Barcelona might be a good option for you. Beaches, Parc Guell, Magic Fountain and while some people dismiss the area near the Olympic pool, our boys had a good time nosing around (its a collection of vignettes from around spain), there is also a chocolate museum and the tapas may be exactly the sized portions your boys will want to eat!

I agree - Monaco is a really strange venue for two young boys, though it will probably be exciting just being on vacation and seeing new things. I wouldn't go all the way to Venice and back to Rome for two days, though I would definitely get out of Monaco.

Do you need to fly home from Rome? If yes, then take the boys to Rome. If no, then take the boys to Paris and fly home from there. Or stay nearby in Nice, Menton or such and fly home from Nice.

Here are some fun websites with things for kids in the French Riviera:

It would help to know where you are flying into and out of so that advice on where to go after Monoco could be in that context.

hello - we just returned from Monte Carlo and I kept an eye out for children's activities for you. There is a carousel and some playground equipment near the pier on Albert 1 blvd that they might enjoy; depending on the hotel you are staying at, there will be a pool and possibly a beach for them as well. There is a children's zoo near the antique car museum too that looked cute and they might like the exotic gardens. we saw mostly children with their parents riding scooters along the promenade, playing on the beach, riding the carousel, etc.
