I am not sure if this is appropriate on this forum or not, but can anyone recommend a mobile device for translating languages. Google translator is great if I have my computer out and connected, but I am looking for a hand held device that actually works. We speak English and Spanish, but are going to Portugal and was looking at options.

English will work just fine in Portugal. However, if you have a smart phone can't you run Google Translate on that?

I am currently reviewing translator apps on iphones now. I am also looking at an Aspiring Voice Translator device.

Getting by in Portugal
 

If you read Spanish and speak English, you shouldn't have any problem getting by in Portugal, except for maybe some small village in the hinderland. As noted, English is quite common in all of the major tourist destinations.

The Google translator app worked just fine for us in France last month.
