Travel to Florence from Pisa or Bologna airport?
I am travelling from London Gatwick airport for a few days in Florence in May 2016. For cheap flights the perceived wisdom always seems to suggest flights into Pisa and then a bus journey. However, the flight times aren't great. Would it add much in time/difficulty to fly to Bologna and then get a train to Florence? I sometimes miss the obvious .... so would be so grateful for your help.

If you are traveling during normal hours, no issues at all -- it's a short taxi ride to the Bologna Centrale train station or a simple airport shuttle bus will take you right there. Then you get on a 45 minute fast train to Firenze.
Even if off-hours, it is simple to arrange for a taxi -- but check when the fast trains stop running at night and resume in the morning. |
Thanks very much Sandra. It is great to be able to get reliable advice.
