Travel time from Capri to Naples airport

We will be staying in Capri but need to fly out of Naples airport at noon the following day. If we spend the night in Capri, is there enough time to get to the airport without totally stressing out? Is staying in a hotel near airport a better bet?

Joan - Yes - if you don't mind making an early start. When are you going?

You basically have 2 options - either
(1) via Naples or
(2) via Sorrento

(1) Via NAPLES:

- There are currently hydrofoils from Capri to Naples (Molo Beverello port) at 06.50 and 08.10.
For details see:

http://www.capri.net/salsa/lang/en/page/transport.html

- From Piazza Municipio (- near Molo Beverello port) there is an Airport Shuttle bus ('Alibus') every 20-30 mins.
Fare: € 3.00

Journey time from Piazza Municipio to the airport is approx 30-40 mins.

(2) Via SORRENTO

- Alternatively you can take an early ferry or hydrofoil to Sorrento.

From Sorrento there's a direct Airport Shuttle bus (- operator: Curreri) leaving Sorrento at 08.30 - which arrives at Capodichino airport at 09.30.
Fare: approx. € 6.00 (Pay on the bus).

Hope this helps ...

Steve -

We will be doing this in reverse in early June -- Capodichino to Capri -- mid-day to early afternoon on a weekday, coming off an overnight flight from the US.

It looks like the costs, schedules, and time required for both options are fairly similar. Is there any other advantage to one versus the other (i.e., less hassle), or is it basically a toss-up?

Sorry, Joan, for hijacking the thread.

Ms Go - I think the Naples route is probably less hassle with luggage as the bus drops you off near the dock - and buses run very frequently.

The Sorrento bus drops you off in the town centre - from where it's another bus (- or taxi) ride or a 10-15 mins. walk down to the port. And this bus service only runs about every 2 hours ...

Hope this helps ...

Steve,
Thanks for all the information! I get stressed out easily and trying to wake up two teens early would just put me over the edge!!
