Hello???? Anybody home???? Umm, you putting your money in a safe-deposit box without the benefit of interest only hurts YOU. It doesn't hurt me, nor the gov't. Besides, the gov't doesn't have to give ANY perk to stimulate the travel industry. Don't look any gift horse in the mouth, no matter how short lived.

These are two different things here: (1) for travel to NYC (through 12/2002) and (2) to travel further than 200 miles from where you live (through 12/2001).For the latter, see <BR>http://www.cnn.com/2001/TRAVEL/NEWS/...its/index.html

Oops, make that 100 miles from home! Seems to me that a lot of people should be able to benefit from this as this would include short weekend trips (or even day trips). So, stop the complaining and get going!

Just what we need, more breaks for the rich and a NEW deficit--right when we were getting rid of the old one that the last very conservative Republican foisted on us. Reagan didn't get that $4 million house from his friends for no reason.

Dont' be so foolish. Practically everyone can obtain the $500 tax credit if it is approved. Aren't you people going to be traveling during the holidays to visit family and friends for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve? You don't even have to get in a plane to be eligible for the $500 tax credit. I for one hope it passes. This is an awesome gesture to get people back to enjoying their lives again, besides a much needed boost for the travel industry. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

First of all, this administration is obsessed with random and ill-advised taxcuts - this isn't the first one, remember? Second, for those of you who think this is all a set-up to help "fat cats" - do you really think such a person cares one way or the other about 500 USD? I don't even care about it, and I'm hardly a millionaire. This is just another GWB publicity stunt.
