Travel skirt
 

I'm searching for an ankle length black uncrushable, comfortable skirt to travel in - sourced if poss from U.K. or Australia. Have looked at Travelsmith (they don't do international online orders) and exOfficio, who are very expensive.
Any suggestions appreciated!

Some people swear by Travelsmith.
My experience is that the items I ordered (skirt, pants) were poorly made, thin, and unattractive. I returned them. I have found items in regular stores that are adaptable enough to work well for me.

What I have ordered from another company, Magellan's, are light weight jackets/rain coats. Those worked well.

I don't know if REI has international shipping or not, but the brand I love is KAVU for women. Their skirts are very comfortable and pack great. I know they have a website of their own also and this season there is a long packable Tencel skirt in the REI online catalog.
I bought a black, below the knee length last summer and lived in it in Italy. It was the best piece of clothing I took.

In the past have bought similar item in K-Mart! Brand name is Frazier.

Sister bought me some travel items from Chico that are similar. I really like the stuff. Very well cut. Not inexpensive, but if you amortized wear per minute on a trip, justifiable.

Tencel is wonderful stuff. And the good news is it isn't just available in pricey "travel" clothing. You can find tencel in just about any department store, by many designers. The travel clothing sites seem to add on 30% to 40% to the cost simply because they are "travel clothing".

regular (cheaper) lines are all over the place. You could also look for broomstick-type or crushible knits - again in your local shops.

Thanks everybody - lots of options...will have a look at a few websites and get one comfy enough to also wear on the plane.

My friend just bought lots of stuff from Rohan in the UK - she brought some of it with her when visiting for a weekend and it looks really nice and packed very small to emerge with no creases.

Please forgive me but what is the concept behind "Travel" clothing? What sets it apart from regular clothing?

Assuming this is a sincere question, I offer a definition for Scottee, a "travel skirt" is one which will survive the plane trip, the spilled wine, brushing up against something yucky and being inadequately washed and dried in a hotel sink/shower with hand soap four times and still makes you look like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman even though you are 60, a little plump and kinda travel-worn yourself.

Ordinary skirts don't do these things, but if I just find the right travel skirt...

Thanks for the reply. It was a sincere question. I had never heard of anything labeled as travel clothing. I guess I should feel lucky that there is a laundry service on our cruise if the need should arise:)

I find most of the travel catalogs styles very plain so I keep my eyes open all year for travel clothes where I usually shop. I picked up a tencel blend black skirt with a fluted hem from the Armani AX. Never wrinkles. At Anthropologie two crinkle cotton skirts, dressy and sport t-tops and they take me anywear. I roll everything

and the most important reason - they don't wrinkle!

Hi;
Walmart sells a brand called GEORGE. I bought skirts and pants for not much $$ and I love them for traveling.

A company called Magellan has a catelog of travel-related items, similar to Travelsmith but (IMO) of better quality overall.
