Hi guys !

I am an Indian and am visiting my friend at Luxembourg-city, from there I would be going to Munich and from Munich to Zurich and from Zurich back to India.

Can anybody suggest me the most cheapest way to travel from Luxembourg to Munich and from Munich to Zurich. Will be grateful if you can mention an approximate fare too.

Thanx !

Check bahn.com for cheap train tickets.
Discounted tickets are usually restricted to specific dates and trains.
When you book in advance, 1st class saver fares are often just a bit more expensive than 2nd class.
Example: Luxemburg-Munich cheapest 2nd class fare: €39, cheapest 1st class fare €49.

The bus may be cheaper than the train - try Eurolines.

Sometimes it's actually cheaper to fly, although it might take longer - check whichbudget.com but allow extra for getting from the airport into town.

If you're not familiar with European trains take a look at seat61.com as well as bahn.de.

Luxembourg has a major international airport with no doubt flights to Munich - Munich is about 4 hours I believe by train from Zurich - like suggested check www.bahn.de for both discounted and train-specific fares and full fares that you would buy once in Munich and knowing which train you may want to take. From Luxemourg it would be a longer ride by the rails to Munich - take a train first to Koblenz then one to Mannheim and hop ICE express train to Munich would be one route. For lots on trains in these countries check out these fantastic IMO sites - www.seat61.com; www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com. You are not traveling enough by train to even think about any railpass.

How long do you have to do this - two days - more? If more I'd suggest doing it all by train and seeing a bit of Germany in between or spending a few days in Switzerland - gorgeous Switzerland draped in awesome Alpine scenery and beauty.

How long do you have?

and there are some sweet day trips from Munich as well.
