Travel Itinerary help: France, Portugal,Spain in 2 weeks.

Hi,
I will be visiting Europe in October for 2 weeks to see some friends in Paris and Porto.
I wanted to visit another country too which is spain or germany (if I still have time).

Since I will be travelling alone would like to know a few things:
- Is it best to travel with euro rail or budget airlines?
- how should I best prioritize the cities that I want to visit? which goes first etc..
Right now I am thinking this cities:
- Paris (start)
- Madrid
- Porto
- Lisbon
- Lyon
- Frankfurt/Berlin (if possible)
- Paris (end)

Really appreciate some advice

Too much travelling; only 2 nights in each location. Plus time for getting to and from airport or train station and travelling time means not seeing anything.
Trains would take up far too much travelling time.

Paris is worth at least a week and while you are in Porto, you can visit the northern part of Portugal and into Galicia of Spain or head south. Otherwise you will seeing more of the inside of a plane than Europe.

If you have not yet made your plane reservations, make an "open jaw" (multicity) reservation in to Paris and home from Lisbon. That will save you time and likely money as you will not need to fly back to Paris.

WIth two weeks, I suggest spending a week each in Paris and Portugal. There is so much to see and do in Paris that you will only scratch the surface. Your friends in Porto can help you to see Portugal.

I would fly from Paris to Portugal.

Thanks for the advices
i do agree, with the suggestion too limited time.
So i am booking (not yet paid) flight into paris and then return from Madrid.
So the plan is to spend 4 days in paris,
Fly to porto, spend a week in portugal,
fly to Madrid and spend 3 days there

But I'm not sure I can see other cities...

Do you think it's still possible to visit other cities in the 3 countries?

I thought Paris was mandatory?
It is hard to help when you have a moving target.

Yes, Paris is mandatory.
I fly into Paris and stay there for 4 days
then Porto for 3 days, Lisbon for 3 days,
then madrid for 3-4 days.

Is it possible for me to add 1 more city say barcelona or rome?

Your latest list is doable, more is not a good idea.

Consider this. When you say 4 days in Paris what does that really mean? If it includes your arrival day it means you will really only have 3 full days in Paris and that is assuming you don't leave until the morning of the 5th day. That 5th day is spent getting to Porto and is not spent IN Porto so when you say 3 days in Porto it really means 2 full days in Porto if you leave on the morning of the 8th day.

You must count nights as well as days and you must deduct travel days from your time IN places. Get the idea?

With 14 days including your arrival and departure day which are both basically a write off, you have 12 full days to spend IN places. Each time you move you lose one of those days.
