Hi,
My wife has a class D visa, valid from march till september on the basis to accompany me in Denmark while I study . She entered Denmark in April and we have rented a place there. Till now there has been some hang up in the issuance of her Residence card,(apparently it got lost in the mail or something and another one is being sent).
Two weeks ago, we came down to the Netherlands due to some study related assignment of mine. During this time she had to fly back home (out of the EU) due to an emergency from the Netherlands. According to her flight, she is to return back into the Netherlands in two weeks from now and we will go back up to Denmark by car.
However, I am not sure if there will be any problem for her to enter the EU through the netherlands with a danish class D visa.
The danish immigration did not offer me a solid solution before she had to leave other than come to their office in Copenhagen (DK) and get a re entry permit. However that was not possible as we were in the netherlands when she had to leave
Does anyone have any advice to offer on this matter

As I understand it a class D visa is only for the country which issued it. She should not have accompanied you to the Netherlands without a residence permit from Denmark.
I suggest you change the return flight to one to Denmark.
In theory she has five days to get to Denmark from another Schengen country when the visa is first valid, but thereafter the visa is country specific and not valid for the whole zone

Just going to the Netherlands was in breach of the visa, returning there on a D visa from Denmark could mean she is refused entry. Added to which is that the D visa is single entry, so she needs to reapply.

No. Type D visa is valid throughout Schengen for 90-in-180 days within its validity period. In the past, in order to travel outside the country it was issued in, you first had to get resident permit but this requirement has been dropped, so Schengen-wide travel is possible from the 'valid from' date.

Her visa is valid till the 26th of september and it is a multiple entry.

What it means is she can visit other Schengen states, within the validity of her type D visa, for a period of up to 90 days within 180 days. But since there are no routine border checks within Schengen, she can in effect stay in Schengen until her visa expires.
