YES it is reasonable--make sure that you are happy with the terms of the policy. Do not hesitate to buy it--I have paid almost as much for a shorter trip.

Since someone seems to have revived this thread, and Neopatrick cast some doubt on the veracity of my message, I'm sucked into posting once more.
First, since this thread STILL contains confusing language about what kind of insurance is meant, I shall wearily repeat: TRIP INSURANCE has medical provisions but ALSO cancellation insurance in case you have to cancel the trip or cut it short -- this is for people who have paid a lot up front for a package trip. It costs a lot. MEDICAL TRIP INSURANCE just covers medical issues (plus evacuation home if necessary) -- this is scorned by many on this forum who then let slip that they already have insurance that covers them outside the USA. Goody for them. For the rest of us, who do not, Med trip insurance makes sense. Neopatrick disputed my claim that I found a policy on Insure My Trip for $55 covering me for $50,000+ in medical costs and full evacuation costs (if I were say in a body cast), and to fly someone to greece to escort me home, plus a lot of other bennies. NeoP said when he went to that website he got a quote of $160 JUST for evacuation and then it went up from there... Patrick, you have to know how to work the site. When I started using this site, years ago, being an old journalist, I went to the 800 number listed and asked for and got a very clear explanation of how to get the quotes I wanted: 1. Click on Quotes in the LH column (not Products, not Services) you will get a form. 2. Click on "trip cost" slot and a "0" option pulls down. Click that, so the Zero is in the slot. 3. In the "Medical limit" slot, also leave the Zero. 4. Fill in the rest of data then click "Quote" and you will see a long list of policies (for my age and a 25 day trip they ranged from $37 on up to over $100). 5. Tick the ones you wish to compare, then click "compare" and you get side-by-side columns showing exactly the coverage of each policy. Just now I redid this and found the policy I chose. It went up $2.67 from the $55 I paid, Neopatrick. Please, people, if you are considering such a package, copy & follow these directions -- and if it gets confusing, Call the 800 number. A human being answers and gives clear instructions. |
