Travel in Tuscany and where else???
Traveling with 3 children (14, 12 and 9yrs old) and husband for 2 weeks to Italy and staying 1 week in a house in Tuscany... what do you recommend for the other week??? Flying into Rome and renting a car; the week of travel is before staying in Tuscany... suggestions... up for traveling to another country close by, Istanbul, Greece, or too complicated??? Help!!!

I'd do the same as the Tuscany trip but in one of
1) The Po valley (within an hour of Venice by train) 2) Puglia But,,, it does depend on the month. If this is August then lets have another try |
Well, stay in Italy for sure.
Are you spending time in Rome this trip--it demands 5 days IMHO. Otherwise. the kids may enjoy the lakes. |
I think you're asking about what to do with your other week. Our kids (now 17 and 14yo, but 10yo at the time of the first trip to Italy) really loved their time in the Italian cities, probably more than the time in the rural countryside. So I would definiately suggest Rome, Venice, Florence, any or all of the above, depending on your family's interests.

It would be possible to visit another country without too many complications, but since you are basing yourself in one place for a week, it would make more sense to stay in Italy and travel around that country for the other week. :-)
