Travel in Paris and London
 

We arrive in Paris on 19th December and need to get the train to Strasbourg and back after staying there for 4 days. Then we have a week in Paris. We have already booked the train from Paris to London and we stay there for a week. Just wanting to know if we should be getting rail passes for these places? Or if there is another option that would be more suited? I have no idea and have never been to Europe before so would love some help!

Point to point tickets will be cheaper. You can buy them online immediately and the sooner you buy them, the more money you will save.

No, a railpass would not be a good idea, but you should have booked your tickets 90 days ago for the best prices. Buy them asap at www.trainline.eu. It's easier than the SNCF site. Should have done your homework to save a lot of money.

Do not let the SNCF site bump you to RailEurope; it's easy enough to avoid these days. If you are arriving at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport you can get a train from there to Strasbourg. The difficulty, much discussed on this forum, is co-ordinating between unpredictable arrival times and train departures. Some train tickets can be exchanged if a plane arrives too late for the reservation, but they cost more and involve some procedures at the CdG SNCF station, since all tickets require seat reservations.

Thank you so much for all of your help!! We will stick with point to point tickets. We purchased our ticket from Paris to London a long time ago but now I wish I did the Paris to Strasbourg one then too :( oh well! At least I know for next time.
