travel help
I am I going to be traveling in Europe from September 14th to the 28th. I am planning the trip as follows:
2 nights in London 2 nights in Paris 2 nights in Nice then off to Portugal for a week Does anyone have any tips on where to stay in London, Paris, and Nice? I heard it is best to bid through priceline, however I'm clueless as to which areas to stay. Also any recommendations on whether train or flight would be better from London to Paris and Paris to Nice? This all seems so overwhelming! |
The first 6 nights are essentially a waste of time and money. You won't see much of anything in any of those places, particularly London with the jet lag factor. Getting between them is going to eat up a minimum of a half a day each time. So you'll be spending almost as much time in transport as you will in the actual locations.
So I would suggest you begin by eliminating at least one of the three, preferably two. Priceline is pretty good for London, not so much for Paris or nice. There are thousands of threads here on Fodors about accommodations in all three places, as well as suggestions for areas to stay in in each city. |
Not that you asked our opinion about itinerary, but I agree with first post. Enjoy one place at leisure, or even 2, but you'll lose half day for each change of city and much expense. For Paris, you would have 1/2 day the first day, 1/2 day the second, I hope you have one meeting to attend as you leave no time to leisurely enjoy any place.

As for Paris, the most popular areas for tourists (and rightly so, near to many famous sites yet also have plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops): Arrondissements: 3 & 4 (The Marais), 5 (The Latin Quarter), and 6 (St. Germain des Pres).
Enjoy, however you spend your time! |
You're overwhelmed because you're trying to visit too many places in 6 days.
Since your time is so limited I would decide what sights you want to see and then stay in that area rather than choosing an area and spending time getting to sightseeing locations. Take a train between London and Paris and probably to Nice as well. You could take a night train to Nice and have 2 full days sightseeing. |
thanks for your options, decided to cut out london to have 3 nights in paris and nice! thanks again
