Travel guides to Europe
 

I am going on a travel for one month to europe next January, traveling by Europass. I am thinking now of buying a couple of Travel Guides. I am wondering if someone could give me any hints about Fodor's, Frommer's and Let's Go. Which one is best ? I am traveling on a budget of about $50 per day, So I will be sleeping on trains and staying on cheap hotels / hostels.
Please help me.

Fabio, all the guides you mentioned are OK. I've had best luck with Fodor's, Frommer's and the "Rough Guide" series (previously known as "Real Guide".)
For economy, overnight trains are a good deal - you get a place to sleep and transport, and some of the larger train stations offer facilities to shower on arrival. Don't waste your money on sleeper compartments; couchettes are just fine. On popular ICE routes, do reserve a couchette. Which cities will you be visiting?

Given your budget, you might look at the Lonely Planet guides "Eastern Europe on a Shoestring, 23 US dollars, and "Western Europe on a Shoestring". They give details of camping, hostels, and student accomodation in each place.

I will be visiting a lot of places, but I am staying more days on Paris, Rome, Barcelona and London. As I am going to ride a lot of cities, I have been thinking of Prague and Budapest as well.

I am familiar with ALL the guidebooks from Frommer,
Fodors, Routh Guide, Let's Go, etc.

Provavelmente devido a varias cidades que você vai sugiro comprar o Let's go to Europe pois ele estara mais completo. O Frommer é muito bom mais tem poucas cidades.

No question, Fodors is the best.

I agree with Jim. Rick Steves' Europe Through the Back Door is the one to go with, especially since you're on a budget. That's his specialty. Also, I would reccommend Lonely Planet, which is also a great guide book and is geared toward budget travelers. My husband and I will be traveling to Europe next summer and will be bringing both with us.
