Travel Gatwick to Hotel

Good morning, I've read various post and am impressed with the valuable information provided. I need help. A party of 4 is arriving in London at Gatwick airport on 8/6/08 and need info on most economical means of getting to Beverley City hotel located at 142 Sussex Gardens in London. We will be leaving on the 9th, should we purchase 3 day travel cards prior to arrival or wait until we get to London?

Travel Cards are not valid from Gatwick though you could buy a supplemental ticket to get to Croydon or wherever an all-zones TravelCard would take over.

Your best option would be to take a Southern train from Gatwick to St. Pancras Domestic and the Tube (Circle Line) from King's Cross St. Pancras to Paddington. The Southern ticket office will sell you zone 1-6 travelcards and cheap tickets to cover the portion from Gatwick to the edge of zone 6. You can use the travelcards the rest of the day in London.

Southern Railway offers a "DaySave" card (pass) good for their entire network, including the LGW transfer. Four people for £20.

Oops! My brain was asleep and I mixed up the routes of two train companies. You can take a FIRST CAPITAL CONNECT train to St Pancras Domestic and the Circle Line from there to Paddington. Or you can take a SOUTHERN train to Victoria and the Circle Line from there to Paddington.
