Travel from Venice to Milan Malpensa

Hi! I will be in Venice next October and I will need to go to Malpensa airport in Milan to catch a plane to Madrid. Is there a train that takes me straight there? In fact, I will be in Ljublana (Slovenia) but I plan to make a stop in Venice before to fly to Madrid. Any help will be great!

Unfortunately, there is no direct train. The train from Venice to Milan is a national train and will terminate at Milan's Centrale station.

From Centrale most people use the Malpensa Shuttle BUS. Alternatively, it is possible to get to Malpensa on Milan's Metro Area commuter rail, but doing that involves changing trains (possibly at Cadorna station) and evidently the bus is quicker.

Is there no Venice to Madrid plane?

Hello Diego, here is the website for the Malpensa Shuttle that runs back and forth to the Centrale Station in Milan. A good clean bus, they store the luggage underneath the bus. This will be the easiest for you.

Are you intending to train train from Venice to Malpensa on the day of your flight? Even if your flight is late in the day, I think I'd prefer to be in the Milan area the day before in case of train troubles. The train from Venice to Milan is about 3 hours, and the bus to Malpensa could add another hour, never mind transfer and waiting time in between.

Thank you all for your responses!!! I will arrive to Milan (Centrale Station) the previous day to my flight (4-6 pm ). My plane is at 11 am. What do you think I should do? Stay in a hotel near Malpensa? Take the shuttle and spend the night at the airport?

Hi D,

>What do you think I should do?

Take Mimar's advice and fly to Milan.
