Travel from Venice Airport to Venice Mestre
Halo
If I would like to travel from Venice Airport (Marco Polo) to Venice Mestre, what is the cheapest and easiest way? I stay in hotel ( l'Affittacamere di Venezia ), 30171 Mestre Venezia (Italy) . |
Bus

The bus ticket machine is just where the bus departs from, straight out the terminal doors. No need to buy ahead.

You do know that Mestre is a largely industrial suburb and noting whatsoever like Venice? A really poor choice for a place to stay.
|
Hi nytraveler, seriously, the hotel looks fine and good.
|
Thanks, J62!!!

nytraveler, the poster may have good reasons for his/her choice. It is not for us to say it is a poor choice.
It might have been kinder for you to say, "If you are visiting Venice, you should try to stay there instead if possible." |
Any hotel in Mestre is not as good as any hotel in Venice proper. You lose much of the experience of being in a city of canals, with no cars, no trucks. You've paid to go to Venice, why waste your money staying in Mestre?
|
While the hotel may look fine and good on paper, the surroundings will not be what you expect. Try to stay in Venice, Mestre is not a beautiful place and the hotel surroundings will likely be fairly industrial. As Mimar so wisely says, you are going to Venice, why settle for less?

There is an express bus from the airport to Mestre station, but it looks like the bus #15 runs from the airport to within a block from your B&B (stop #22 on Miranese at Via Piave). If you take the express to Mestre station you would still be quite a way from your B&B.
The Venice airport website says to buy tickets at the A.C.T.V. desk in the terminal before boarding the bus - - ask about multi-day tickets that will include transportation in Venice, or before you go look at options for both land and water (vaporetto) fares here at the A.C.T.V. website: http://www.actv.it/en/movingmainland/urbanlines Here is the #15 bus map: http://www.actv.it/pdf/piante_automobilistico/15-UM.pdf |
Thank you all!!!
If that's the case, I would re-consider about the hotel again. |
Mestre is on the mainland - NOT part of Venice. It is primarily industrial. I'm sure there are some decent hotels there for people on local business.
But from Mestre you will need to take the train to Venice each day, then the vaporetto - or walk - to what ever yuo want to see. Why go all the way to see a unique city - then stay someplace else? |
nytraveler - why be logical? People hate that.
