Travel from Sorrento to Calabria
I will be going from Sorrento to Calabria and know that there is a train from Naples to Lamezia but I would like to avoid backtracking, and find another route, if possible. I was wondering if there are any trains that go from Sorrento to Salerno, and then travel to Lamezia rather than travel back to Naples and take the train from there to Lamezia.

You take the bus from Sorrento to Amalfi where you switch to another bus that goes to Salerno. Here are the timetables: http://www.amalficoastweb.com/orari_...imetables.html

Faster:
From April through October, take a hydrofoil from Sorrento to Amalfi (Alicost), then a ferry boat from Amalfi to Salerno-Concordia Dock (Cooperativa Sant'Andrea), then walk 800 meters to the Salerno train station.

I can't imagine the ferry being any faster. The Sorrento/Amalfi departs at 10:30 and arrives Amalfi at 11:30. The Amalfi/Salerno ferry doesn't depart until 12:45.

There are no trains between Sorrento and Salerno, only bus or ferry. The train from Sorrento to Naples departs every 30 minutes and travel time is 70 minutes. I would think even backtracking to Naples, you will have more departure time choices.
