Travel from Prague to Rome
Hi Guys,
My wife and I are planning a Europe trip of 13 or 14 days as follows:
Fly into Rome, stay there for 3-4 days.
Fly to Budapest (OpenJet) for 4-5 days (family to visit)
Travel to Vienna either by car or train, and then travel by train to Prague.
Now, we were hoping to get back to Rome straight from Prague. Does anyone know of the best way to do this, or have any other suggestions?
We are flying from Toronto for the last two weeks of May/05.
Thanks in advance!

You'll have trouble finding a car in hungary that you can return to the Czech Republic without a huge drop charge. We enjoyed having a car greatly in Austria, CR and Poland (note: these countries are in central Europe; eastern Europe is much further east), but we picked it up in Vienna and returned it to Graz. Maybe you could re-arrange (not even all that much) your travels to fly in and out Bratislava ("Vienna East", less than 45 minutes by shuttle bus from downtown Vienna) in Slovakia, on SkyEurope (again, see whichbudget.com for details).
For driving details, you owe it to yourself to become familiar with the excellent websites viamichelin.com or mappy.com or both. They provide route mapping, distances, estimated drive times, etc...

Hi spd,
Are you going Prague to Rome to fly back home?
Have you considered open jaw into Rome and out of Prague?
http://airtravelcenter.com/onetrav.htm has it for $832, but it could go down to $750 in the next month.

Ira,
Yes, we were looking to find something like that, but we couldn't find a flight to come back on Sunday, only on Saturday. Also, the price works out to about $300 (CAN) more per person. We booked the flight last night, and of course, it's non-refundable/cancellable.

Forget what I wrote. I was wrong. You can't do an open-jaw for less than 1100USD pp.
You can fly Prague to Rome Ciampino on Smartwings for about $50US. See www.whichbudget.com
