Travel from Prague to Cesky Krumlov

Hi everyone... I have searched to no avail... what is the best way to travel from Prague to Cesky Krumlov? I want to stay there overnight so the one day tours wont be any good for me. Any help appreciated, and sorry if this is a stupid question!! Thanks :-)

Car. I was concerned about driving in Czech Republic and some nice poster here encouraged me to drive. The countryside is lovely and driving was no problem. We rented a car probably from AutoEurope, picked it up at the Intercontinental Hotel in Prague. Best and easiest way to get to Cesky Krumlov. I'm pretty sure it's not possible by train and time-consuming by bus.

Hi,
We took a bus from Prague to Cesky Krumlov. Going to C.K. it took a long time because there was a lot of traffic (almost 4 hours). Going back to Prague was much faster (I think about 2 1/2 hours). I was told that the bus was faster than the train. Our bus going back to Prague left us at a different bus depot than the one we started from, but there was a metro station right there and it was easy to get back into the center of the city. Cesky Krumlov is beautful. Enjoy!

I used the online timetable for bus and rail at http://idos.datis.cdrail.cz/ConnForm.asp?tt=c&cl=E5, and found that the first two direct busses are these:
UAN Florenc bus station 0800 daily, CK bus station 1105
Na Knizeci bus station 0820 Mon to Fri, CK bus station 1125.
The fare is 140 Czech crowns.
The same web pages show you the busses back. They cover trains too, but it is true that the rail journey is slow, and I can add that the trains deliver you away from the centre at CK, while the busses stop under the city wall at two places.

Hi
We picked up our car at the airport in Prague and drove around the Czceh Rep. How much time are you spending in the Czech rep.? There is much to see and driving is probably the best way to get to some of the places. We always use autoeurope and have been very satisfied.

Thank you - this forum is unreal, to get such specific information is awesome. aeiger, I am travelling alone - and will be in Prague fpr about a week. Even tho the bus is more timeconsuming, in my case it probably isnt as if I was let loose int he countryside in a car I would probably ens up in Vienna, not CK!!! Ben, thanks a million for the timetables. Thanks also for the tip re bus depos. Have a great day everyone!! LC :-)

Have a wonderful time in Cesky Krumlov. It is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, and I have traveled to many, many places. I hope you know that the Rosenburg Castle and Baroque Theatre is closed during the winter months.
