travel from Nuremberg to Lucerne
 

I will be traveling from Nuremberg to Lucerne in September. I looked at busses, but they only run twice a week. Looking at train schedules, it looks like there are 3 train changes. Transferring my luggage 3 times could be a challenge. Any ideas of better ways to make this trip? flying involves a couple of transfers too. I prefer the bus if I could find one that is traveling on my required date. Thanks

May I ask where you're checking train timetables? Not knowing your travel date, I searched a random mid-September day on both bahn.de/en and sbb.ch/en and found options with "only" two changes.

For me, even if I could find a direct/no change bus on the right day, I'd still prefer the train with 2 changes for a journey of that length. More comfortable seating, more comfortable toilets, etc.

There is a train connection with only 1 train change:
Nurnberg dp 5.38am - Karlsruhe ar 8.53, Karlsruhe dp 9.11 - Lucerne ar 12.05.
Don't forget that Lucerne is all but an important station in the European rail network.

Thank you for the assistance. I was not aware of being able to go to Karlsruhe then to Lucerne. That sounds like a good possibility.
