Travel from Munich to Berlin

Hi, My husband and son will be going to Germany in July 2006 for the World Cup. They will need to travel from Munich to Berlin. If they use the train, is it possible to make seat reservations on a train via the internet beforehand or would they have to wait until they are actually in Germany? Thanks!

It is not really necessary to reserve seats on this train. There are direct trains that depart every two hours. Once they are in Munich, they can go to the train station at their leisure a day or two beforehand and make a reservation if they desire.

Thanks! I'll have them do that!

np.
You can check schedules at www.bahn.de. I would not be surprised if they add additional trains, or at least additional cars on some trains for WC.

We will also be in Germany for WC and will be traveling from Berlin to Munich. We are opting to fly which is cheaper and faster than the train. Check out www.flydba.com.

Thanks. I know it's only an hour flight and a six hour train ride, but my husband thought it might be a neat way to see some of the countryside...
