Travel from Lisbon Airport

What is the best method of travel, other than driving, to get from the Lisbon Airport to the Algarve?

1. taxi to Oriente train station (10 minutes and about 10 euros).
2. train to the Algarve (time table in www.cp.pt). The top service is Alfa Pendular (AP) 2h40m and around 20 euros. The alternative is Inter Cidades (IC) which is a bit slower and a bit cheaper. I'd choose first class with service similar to airplanes.
3. According to your final destination in the Algarve, you might have to take another train. This is a regional slow train, but it can be fun.
If you are allergic to trains there are buses, but the train path is more scenic and interesting.

The best method will be to take a taxi from the airport to the bus station (close to the zoo). From there you can take a bus to the algarve region. The train is way to slow. Buses in Portugal are prompt, fast and convenient.

Are their car rental agencies once (either) the bus or train reaches Algarve? We would need a five passenger car or small van. Thank you.
