Travel from Izmir to Kayesari by Flight or public transport- Help
I am visiting turkey in last week of April 2010, with my wife and 2 daughters 13 & 15.
My rough Itinerary is.. Day 1 - Reach Istambul- Take a flight to Izmir Day-2,3,4,5- Selcuk a( rent a car- local) nd 1 day Samos Day- 6 Izmir- Kayesari by ????? & 7 Cappadocia Day 8 Fly from Kayesari to Istambul ( S Gokcen airport) Day- 9,10,11 Istambul Day 12- Flight Back home I do not know if there is a flight from Izmir to Kayesari. Can someone tell me? If not, how do I commute by public transport? Are there direct buses? How much time do they take? Are there night buses and day buses too? Please help.... |
Paragkash,
First, is there a reason you need to fly into Kayseri rather than Nevsehir? There are flights from Izmir to both; just wondering. Secondly, you have essentially one day in Cappadocia which doesn't seem worth the effort, plus once you're there, you'll want more time. Is there a reason you want to fly into S. Gokcen airport rather than Ataturk? Ataturk is on the European side and therefore closer to the historic part of Istanbul. When we were in Turkey, we talked to several people who traveled by bus which seems to be a good option, but I don't know about them, except that there are definitely night as well as day busses. |
Hi ellencmog,
Thanks for the reply. As per your suggestion, I will have 2 days at Cappadocia. Do you think it is worth the effort, as I may have to travel by night bus and may have to change buses. I am trying to fly Pegasus Air- which is cheaper than the most of them. It flies from Kayesari to Istambul( st. gochcen)and vis-a-versa. I am flying from Ataturk to Izmir. But no book or website gives a correct detail of how to reach Cappadocia from Izmir directly, without stopping at Konya or Pumakkale. |
Paragkash,
Unfortunately, I'm not a good resource on riding the bus because we didn't use them. Maybe other Fodorites can help? I do think Cappadocia is worth the effort, though. It was the hightlight of our trip. Ellen |
Thanks a lot
