travel from Hamburg Airport to Vejle Denmark?
My 81-year old father will be flying from Toronto to Hamburg (overnight flight) and then travelling on to a small town near Vejle, Denmark. I am trying to find him the least complicated method of travel from the airport to Vejle.
I found the Abildskou bus, but it only leaves once a day... fine for the trip there, but not for the return.
Can anyone recommend a shuttle service or airport taxi service that would travel between Vejle (or any other nearby location in Jutland) and Hamburg Airport? According to GoogleMaps it's a 2.5 hour drive.
Thanks,
Dana

I have flown into Bilund (Legoland) then took a taxi to Vejle. I think it was about 20miles. Not a pocket change, but it was a simple way to get to Vejle. There were buses from Bilund to Vejle.
However, in your case, since he is flying into Hamburg, this would not work well. I flew from Frankfurt instead since I found out before booking my flight that Frankfurt-Bilund flights were abundant.

The only alternative I could think of to a private taxi and the bus, which you say isn't applicable, would be a train.
There is a new local train station at the airport that connects it to Hamburg Main station. Trains to Vejle leave/arrive from/at Hamburg Dammtor, which is just 1 stop from Main station, but it requires a change at Main station.
Check
www.bahn.de
for details - approx. 4.5 hours (look for "Vejle St." and "Hamburg Airport").
A reliable taxi service is Hansa Taxi, which usually has pleasant drivers and well-kept cars. The website doesn't explicitly address foreign destinations, but it may be worth giving them a call at +49-40-211211(I reckon a 1-way trip would not cost less than EUR 250, though).

I don't think there are any flights from HAM to Billund.

Trains to Denmark go from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (main station), not Dammtor.
There are some through trains from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof to Vejle, otherwise you usually need to change at Padborg and Fredericia.
