And if you go to Chicos, sign up for their passport club. You do get 5% off after spending a lot of money ($500), but you do get the catalog in the mail, and the last one had a $25 coupon off the purchase of $100. Not bad.

Kate, there's also a Chico's at the Westchester Mall.

Betsy, my response to Beth a couple of posts up was really meant for you.

Watch out for those discount coupons! I go into the store with a 25%-off-one-item coupon expecting to get a bargain, and then end up buying a few more items at full price. Very savvy
marketing, I'd say.

I am dying to check out Chico's & will probably become a convert from what I'm reading here.

In the meanwhile: 1. I have a black textured rayon skirt from Eileen Fisher that is pleasant to wear (re: your fabric question) and which when you wash it & hang it up becomes perfect--its texture returns and it looks great.

2. Also have a skirt from Ghost which does the same thing. It cost too much though I think I got it on sale. I've seen Ghost clothes at Century 21.

3. The Times within the last couple of years did an article in the Practical Traveler on all those black dresses that are sold for traveling. You could find it probably. I believe it was written on the principle that you'd want to look half-decent while traveling as well as not having to iron.

Betsy, I am a big Chico's fan in terms of style, fit, and design, but I actually find the acetate/spandex pants limited in terms of what weather they feel good in. In summer they are too hot and in windter they feel cold against the skin. They are fine in weather that is around 50-65, but not much warmer or colder. However, a close friend of mine disagrees, and wore them to Italy warmer weather. But I too prefer cotton against my skin, so I guess it's highly subjective.

Liz

What kind of shoes would be appropriate for Paris. I am going the first week of June and most of the clothes I want to where would require something along the line of a sandal but I have read some information that sandals would not be a good idea. Suggestions? I heard everyone in Paris wears these bowling looking tennis shoes.
