Hi.Im a South African citizen but I work and live in Spain. Can I travel to Malta using my Spanish resident card as my travel document?

I don't think you need any travel document because both are in the Schengen zone, but I'm no expert on going to Malta, that's for sure. How do you intend to get to Malta?

Since you live and work in Spain, and have a Schengen visa (?), there should't be any problem with visiting Malta.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR SOUTH AFRICANS
South African citizens must have a passport that is valid for at least three months beyond the period of intended stay in Malta. A visa is required. Read more: http://www.wordtravels.com#ixzz3I2VsLLy6

No, you will need your passport and Schengen visa, but the airline should be able to advise you of any problems.

BTW, I flew into Malta from a Schengen country (Germany) via Luftansa and Maltese immigration didn't check a single passport.

I think that they're generally willing to assume that if you're coming from a Schengen country, you can legally enter Malta.

Not 100% sure I'd risk it, but...
