travel channel

Silly Question...I know. I caught just a brief moment of the Travel Channel show the other day "Passport to Europe" and they were in a beautiful hotel or villa in Positano, Italy. I searched the TC website but cannot find it. Does anyone know the name of that place? It was gorgeous...

I didn't see the show, but the hotel may very well have been Le Sirenuse, considered by many to be the pinnacle of luxury accomodations in Positano.

If you ever plan to stay there, they will entertain your every whim, but for a price, and plan on booking a year or so in advance.

Hi
Check out the Travel Channel website and go into "Passport to Adventure" it may have the information you want.

I watched that show the other day and I think Le Sirenuse sounds familiar...I think it was that!

I'm dreadfully sorry, but the phrase "Travel Channel" has been overtaken by history and popular usage.

The correct terminology is now "Trannel." Please use this new term from now on.

Thank you.

If you go to the message boards for that show I'm sure one of the super fans will be able to help you.

Gee, everytime I turn on the trannel, they have a poker game on, or a haunted house...I just don't get it!

Remeber those great "Ten Best" shows? Ten Best bathrooms, beaches, sidewalks near empty lots, etc.? Now it's just Poker.

You guys must not be watching the Travel Channel much lately! It's actually quite good now. True, Fridays nights suck with the silly haunted house shows, but the rest of the week has been great. "Passport to Europe" is the best of the lot. Samantha Brown is a little less perky and wacky but conducts a very entertaining show. I like it better than Rick Steves.

Anthony Bourdain also goes to some unique places. He's a little irritating at times (typical New Yorker :-D) but his show is never dull. He is unafraid to experience everything the culture presents to him.

5Takes is an ongoing series where 5 twenty year olds travel through the Pacific rim and chronicle their journey. Each week they respond to recent e-mails with suggestions and tips for things to see. Even though I'm a geezer myself I find these kids very likeable. I make it a point to catch the show every Monday.

Throw in a couple episodes of "Lonely Planet" and "taste of America" and you have a pretty interesting lineup. Besides, there's really nothing all that exciting on the sports channels this time of year.

No, I'm not a shill for Travel Channel. In fact, I complained about those same dopey shows you mentioned a number of times on this website, but now I have to give Travel Channel their props for bringing back travelogues.

Now we need to start moaning about the Food Channel and demand they bring back "Mario eats Italy".

OK, Zeus, I will try again...maybe I just hit the Travel channel at the wrong time. (poker and haunted houses don't really do it for me!)

I am trying Gasthaus Stoekl because of you too!

You better not be steering me wrong! haha
