Travel by train in Switzerland help

Hello,
We will be arriving at Zurich airport and training as follows:
Zurich-Wengen round trip
zurich-Lucerne round trip
Zurich--around town and to airport in 3 day time frame.

I know the discount pass is for a month so it's probably not going to be cost effective for us. Are there other options to save us on these routes?

training to Wengen and back and maybe a day trip to Lucerne and back from Zurich in a 3-4 day time period. And probably to and from the Zurich airport and our Zurich hotel (and around Zurich)

Go to Zürich airport's train station, which is located in the shopping area of the airport. They will gladly advise you of your best option.

I doubt that a pass would be of any benefit to you for these short trips, but as Schuler suggests you can ask in Zürich.

Also, from Wengen to Luzern you do not need to return to Zürich---you can catch a train to Luzern from Interlaken.

Have you looked at the Swiss train website, www.sbb.ch? You can view the routes and schedules. I print out several alternatives that match our plans and take them along.

Do the math, maybe the 1/2 fare card will work for you. It worked for us. If your total fares are over 200 CHF, check it out. The 1/2 fare card costs 99 CHF. You can buy it at any main train station. ((b))

I think they've already gone---JES said they were leaving today.

Can't wait to see your trip report, Budman. . .

This website might help you figure this out.

We bought the 50% Swiss cards last summer, but we traveled a fair amount over a couple of weeks. If you are doing any of the major mountain trips (perhaps to Pilatus or Rigi out of Lucerne), these are expensive trips and may make it worth it.
