Travel by Train in Scotland
My husband and I plan to travel next month on October 4 from Glasgow to Edinburgh and then the following Monday from Edinburgh to London. I need to reserve the tickets for the Edinburgh to London train and I can order the Two Together card when I do that. As there is frequent service between Glasgow and Edinburgh, if I do not reserve the train in advance, can I still show the Two Together card when i buy the ticket in Glasgow? Also thinking about the train to St Andrews on the day before we leave for London and I am assuming that I can use there as well. Any info is appreciated. I tried contacting ScotRail Customer Service but the destination drop-down menu did not work on my computer and using the drop-down menu was required.

When I've used 2TravelTogether cards -- I've bought it at the station before boarding the train. I've also not used one on short haul train trips so can't help much. But I'm sure Mark S. includes any info you'll need on his site (the bible for just about anything rail related) https://www.seat61.com

I downloaded the Scotrail app and loaded my discount card (Seniors) and then used that to book all train travel around the UK (well, not Northern Ireland). It worked exceptionally well. There are reasonably frequent trains between Glasgow and Edinburgh (?Hourly)
My own experience of the Glasgow to Edinburgh train was exceptionally poor, when we were stranded in the middle of nowhere, at an unmanned station, in a torrential downpour, with no option of further travel. This, of course, caused sufficient delays so I missed my flight, and was the beginning of a chain pf problems, but....

Thank you so much for the information. It is much appreciated. I know that the service from Glasgow to Edinburgh is pretty much like a commuter train with regular service. We are flying up to Glasgow from London as we have travel vouchers for two free flights from Jet Blue and both the initial flight and return are from Gatwick. I realize that either the senior card or the 2TravelTogether card should be good as well on the Gatwick Express train from Victoria Station. Just firming up all the plans.
