travel between italy, switzerland and france

hi,

We are 2 people travelling to Italy, France and switzerland from 19th april 2012 to 29th april 2012.
we wiil be coming to rome on 19th april 2012

in italy we want to go to rome, florence, venice and capri
in switzerland we are plannig to go to interlacken (any more suggestion for destination in switzerland are welcome)
in france we plan to go to paris and nice

what we want to know is should we buy a eurail pass
at what all routes will we need to make extra reservation even if we buy eurail pass

we would like to minimize the cost, so need to find out if it will be cheaper to take a pass or point to point tickets

You really don't have time for that many places. If you have tickets booked into Rome and home from Paris, then I would visit Rome and Venice (train between them) and fly to Paris Orly (EasyJet)from Venice.

You have 10 days and you have 7 destinations that are not near each other and which require getting off a train or bus and walking around a lot to see.

Where is your departure airport?

April is not a good time to go to Switzerland.

So if you are arriving on the 19th and laving on the 29th you actually have 9 days on the ground. Realistically you can see something of 2 cities in this time. If you push it and rush from place to place you can see a little of 3 places (since you need to subtract at least half a day when you move from one city to another)

If it were me I would do rome and paris. If you want to pus - add Florence or Venice.'

The cities you list would give you a lengthy tour of the train stations of europe - with only about 1;/2 day to sightsee in each of the places you list.

Not possible, really. And you mention France, but don't say where you'd like to go there. Anyway, you have 9 days for traveling and you can't realistically do anything close to what you have listed.

Forget the rail pass issue - figure out the 2 or at most 3 places you want to see, preferably in one country (and not Switzerland at that time of year) and get point-to-point tickets. Fly into one place and out of another to save time backtracking.
