travel between cities
We are less than 2 months out - mostly have things figured out as much as one can. a few travel detail questions:
1. how much time should we allot at airports (Copenhagen - Oslo, and Bergen - Stockholm flights) prior to departure. The flights are short, but still international ?? 2. In traveling from Oslo to Bergen do you think it's worth it to take the train for scenery rather than the quicker flight? thanks, tak |
Follow airline and airport recommendations - generally around 90 mins to 2 hrs - while checkin and security normally go much faster every so often there's a hiccup and long delay, and allow for delays in transport to airport. There is no real difference between these flights and domestic in terms of checkin and security and within Schengen there is no passport control. Note also checkin and baggage drop closure times depending on airline.
The flight is not much quicker when you factor in airport transfer times, waiting times etc - even the shortest flight is around 5+ hrs city centre to city centre. Tak means roof, takk thankyou and they are pronounced differently. |
Yes Oslo-Bergen Railway is one of Europe's top scenic railways and you could do the Norway in a Nutshell thing when going between Oslo and Bergen and v.v. For lots on trains check www.seat61.com; www.budeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com. You can take an overnight ferry Copenhagen -Oslo I believe - could be interesting experience.

You book Norwegian rail tickets at the operator - https://www.nsb.no/en/frontpage and ferry https://www.dfdsseaways.co.uk/
For scenery between Bergen and Oslo take the Norway in a Nutshell tour - https://www.norwaynutshell.com/origi...in-a-nutshell/ |
Takk everyone (see I can learn) and your thoughts on the train affirm what I was already thinking. I do love the seat61 site - such generosity of knowledge.
