travel alert
Has anyone been traveling in France when a travel alert has been issued? Do you see more police and do some tourist sights become off limits? With the President's recent alert, we are a little apprehensive about our trip to Paris.

I don't think that France has changed its alert level.

We were in Paris during the last travel alert; we were not "at" the Eiffel tower the day it was evacuated, however . The only difference we noted were swat team-style policemen with machine guns in high-volume areas, like at the train station.
This was not the first time we have seen increased security and I remember the first time's shocked feeling, as that is just not something I was used to seeing at home. We have plans shortly to return to Paris and are not planning on changing them. We will be vigilant and maybe avoid super congested areas, but we aren't going to spend the whole time being fearful either. I have followed your threads here and hope you will not let this spoil your plans....Paris is so much more than a few high profile sites. |

There have been alerts before...some terrorist things want you to stay home and lock yourself up in your house!!
You will see more precaution at all airports, US and foreign. Checking in may take longer. I leave on 10/31 and will be in Paris until 12/4. Not at all concerned. Enjoy your trip |
