Travel agency suggestions for Spain-Has anyone use Totally Spain?

Hi Everyone

I am starting to plan a trip for 10 of my friend s- Spain for Summer 2012. Would anyone have any recommendation for a travel agency? I am thinking of getting someone to book everything for the 10 of us. A bit easier on my head! I am thinking local travel agency. Has anyone used Totally Spain? Any other suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Tks.

Yes, we've known the owners of Totally Spain for nearly a dozen years. I'm pretty sure they will take good care of you and your friends.

This is the trip planning service of Maribel; she panned a trip for a friend who was very pleased:

Robert an Maribel are rumoured to be business partners so if one uses Totally Spain the other will have done too.

But why use an agency for planning is easy, especially after asking questions here.

Thanks everyone.
to ribeirasacra I agree that planning can be easy, but it is still time consuming. I did plan a trip for that same group a couple of years ago for Italy. First time I was doing that for a group of friends. It was fun planning it, booking everything myself. However, I was always nervous to see if everything would be to everyone's expectation. I felt responsible if something would have not worked out. Thankfully everything was great.
We used a travel agency for our South african trip and found it was less of a hassel. Less time conusming. I don't think I could have done that trip in south africa for the cost of what the agency had found. So I am curious to check out a travel agency for spain for 2 reasons: what price they can get for accomodation and to reduce my time in planning this.Furthermore if anything would go wrong then it could fall back on the agency not me personnaly.

ribeirasacra, are you really an expat hiding out in Galicia, trolling for customers? If planning were easy, then anyone could do it, even you!

ribeirasacra May 25th, 2011 11:29 PM

Robert your last posting comes across as if you have nothing to add to this conversation except to show your jealousy of someone who lives and breaths Spain. I have never once asked or told a person to visit Galicia. Maybe the truth is out and that seems to have hurt you I am sorry if you feel so damaged by the truth.
I do have a question for you; why do you add personal insults about posters, that is not what this or any other forum is about is it?

Going back to godin. I can see your point about planning but for those who post on forums that is half the fun and excitement. Most of us here can help you do that.

The trouble agencies is they put in locations ( both accommodation and cities) where they have good deals and pay you though the nose. They will also choose the route for you and may not have anything to do with your likes and dislikes.

I appreciate that in the end it is your choice.

A few years we used this small operator based in Malaga owned by a young lady from the UK and her partner. Initially they specialised in Andalucia but now include other parts of Spain. The service was superb and the hotels, which were small and full character, really suited us. Also, they organized everything for us including rail tickets and transfers. Check them out here:

Hello

I would plan it yourself, many agents only suggest the larger tourist sites, if you do it yourself you can plan in some of the smaller villages, there are lots of suggestions on the forum of places to visit. Also do not try to do too much, take time to enjoy Spain

ribeirasacra May 30th, 2011 01:03 AM

Joe nice report but how much did they charge extra to booking railway fares etc?

joe4212 May 30th, 2011 02:26 PM

Hi ribeirasacra

I have no idea. They sent us the details of their Moorish Andalucia Train Journey tour and said we could change anything and they would adjust the itinerary. As we only had seven days they changed our visit to Cordoba to one night only. After that was done we then received all the documents including the rail tickets. Their cost was included in the tour.

If you’ve read the trip report you’ll have noticed I had been unwell for some time before the trip therefore having it all booked as a tour with no additional outgoings and all transport included made it much easier for us. Ironically we are very much independent travelers and this was our first ever tour. I was hugely impressed with the folks at LemonValley.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I have not decided yet to use or not to use a travel agency.
