Kay, you're too funny! I'm not that worried about a line at Thanksgiving. All the Americans will be gathered 'round their tables eating turkey and watching football. Still, I'll ask at the hotel when we check in.
Thanks everyone! (Especially Elaine...) |
i find it hard to believe that the italian gov. would allow any of the davids (donatello, verrochio and, particularly, michaelangelo or bernini) to leave the country under current, or frankly any, circumstances.
shipping any artistic "icon", much less a mere masterpiece, is such a gamble. a loss thru misfortune is unrecoverable. better the crowd come to the art than it potentially be lost forever. |
Hi
I believe that many years ago Michelangel's Pieta (the one in St Peter's) came to New York for a visit. |
Eliane, thanks for making the distinction that the SJ MURKY News didn't.
|
I wonder if David needs a visa...
|
If he goes to New York the Fab Five will be all over him like a cheap suit.
|
Yes, the Pieta did tour and when it arrived it caused a viewing extravaganza..probably only akin to when the Mona Lisa toured.
|
I saw David a week and a half ago. The tour guide said their in the process of cleaning him. You know what they found out works best for cleaning David? Distilled water.
