travel adaptors/converters UK and Europe confusion
Can anyone please help me with what seems like a stupid question regarding convertors and adaptors?
We are travelling from Australia to Europe and the UK and want to take a beard trimmer.
We have both UK and European power adaptors.
Will we also need a power convertor?
I understand that Australia runs on 240 volt power. What is the voltage used in the UK and Europe?
Thanks

European power is 220 Volts. I don't think you'll need a converter.
Based on a google search of "power converter 240 volts to 220 volts" it looks like converters are only concerned with between 110 volts (US / Canada) and 220/240 volts (the rest of the world). So I would say your beard trimmer will work just fine with the adapter.
Another approach would be to check the manufacturer's website. Maybe they can tell you if it will work on 220 volts.
I have not direct experience with this as I'm from Canada. I hope someone else can speak from experience.

220 V in Europe but the adaptor for the UK will be different from the two-pin "Continental plug" used on the Continent.
A word of advice...consider doing what I did..since I couldn't find a dual voltage beard trimmer I bought a very reasonably priced battery operated model..works everywhere, no adaptor or possibly inefficient, not to mention possibly dangerous, converters involved.
Makes travel a whole lot simpler, easier, and anxiety-free.

You do NOT need a converter.
You DO need a plug adaptor. Although US or Europe to UK adaptors are available in practically every convenience store and petrol station in Britain, only about half of them have Oz to UK adaptors and Sod's Law says yours will be the only hotel in Britain that's run out of them. If you're anything like us you'll forget to pack yours, so pick one up at Heathrow as you arrive.
