Trastevere/Florence train advice

We are staying in Trastevere. Does anyone have a suggestion as to whether we should take the train from the Trastevere station(with connection in Roma Termini)on to Florence, or find an alternative way to the Roma Termini station? Bus? cab? any ideas on the cost? What would be easier? Thanks in advance. It seems like it quicker leaving from the Termini station to Florence. Is it that far away? Thanks in advance.

Hi Paula,

This link may help - it has all sorts of transportation links.

Without knowing your lugage situation ect. I wouldn't know what is best for you. With light lugage I have taken buses to the termini and it worked out great and it was cheap.

Be well, E

Paula - If you're staying near Trastevere station then take the train into Termini from there - they are VERY frequent.

You can book a ticket from Trastevere to Florence, so the hop into Termini won't cost you any extra that way.

Another question: When one boards train in Trastevere to go to somewhere in Umbria is there a change of trains at Termini? Also, does the train from the airport into Rome stop at the Trastevere station? Thanks!

Auleen:

From Trastevere to Umbria, you must change trains in either Termini or Tiburtina stations. Eurostar trains depart only from Termini, while some local trains to Umbria also stop at Tiburtina.

From Fiumicino Airport to Trastevere, there is a local commuter train every 15 minutes (every 30 minutes on Sundays) which takes about 20 minutes travel time and costs Euro 5.00. This comuter train proceeds to Tiburtina station (but NOT Termini). Don't confuse this commuter train with the other, more expensive, nonstop train from the airport direct to Termini station.
