Trastevere apartments

Well, looks like I might be going again for 2 weeks to visit the DD in Rome. The apartment that I rented last year for one month in Trastevee was very nice in many ways, but only 1/2 block from a very noisy pub that discharged its rowdy patrons at 2 in the A.M. So this year I'm looking for a quieter location in Trastevere.

Any recent experiences or good recommendations to report? A really solid and friendly agency? This decision is rather late, as it now looks like DD may be coming home to stay this summer, and I would like to visit Rome and travel with her a little while I can still benefit from her services as translator. No airline tickets yet, but looks like it may be the last two weeks of May.

Promise, I will also check Slow Travel and investigate their recs as well.

Thanks in advance. MJ

Have a look at Holiday Velvet. We are staying at San Fransesco apartment and they are a very professional company to deal with. Just go to apartments, Rome ,Trastevere and you will get lots of places to consider. Good luck.

We had very good luck with Tim Pearson and the realrome.com rental agency. I know they have some apartments in Trastevere.

This thread also has good suggestions

We have used sleepinitaly twice and been satisfied both times. We recently, March 2008, spent a week in Rome. We stayed at the Largo Cristina Di Svezia apartment, a 1 bedroom right next to the Botanical garden, around the corner from John Cabot University. It was quiet apart from the noise of the police entering the gate next to the apartment. I certainly felt safe. I would recommend this location.

Hey MJ the last time I answered this question with my first post on Fodor's you might remember what a fuss that kicked up. Anyway my advice would be the same. The Piazza San Cosimato area is less touristy and more local than where you were in 2007 and the Jewel is not bothered by any bar/restaurant noise or noise other than the talking and walking of local passersby down Via G. Venezian. Not sure about the morning market in the Piazza since it only returned after we were there. Another more picky review since mine on Slow Trav.
And you would like Paula.
Otherwise I'm with with Vttraveller re Tim and Real Rome. The Luce is in a pretty quiet zone.

Big thumbs up for realrome and Tim Pearson. I've stayed in the luce split level and loved it.

normano, good to hear from an old friend again. This decision is rather last minute as DD has just decided that this summer she is coming up to stay, at least for a while or until we get her Italian citizenship. So....this means that if I want to go to Rome again and have my own personal escort and translator, it will have to be pretty soon, like within the next 6 weeks.

I have already contacted Paula at the Jewel, and she does not have availability--though she says her mother might. Still waiting to hear on that. I have also applied at Sleep in Rome.

I also applied to Real Rome and directed a personal note directly to Tim, mentioning all of you and your high praises. Just some initial searching has already confirmed that availabilty and low price is already very scarce for May and June.

I want something with a little more stretching-out space than offered by a studio (since it is going to be two weeks), but mostly clean and quiet for this "old-lady" retired teacher with a bum knee.

Thanks to old friend and new.

I will keep you updated.
