Trastavere (Rome) Hotel

My family is travelling to Rome and wanted to stay at the hotel Santa Maria in Trastavere but it is booked. Does anyone know of any other hotels in the area that they can recommend?

We spent a night at the Hotel San Francesco and wish we could have stayed longer. Would happily stay there again.

We stayed at the Arco del Lauro in October. Loved it. My review is on TripAdvisor.

Hi, I am right now staying at Arco del Lauro, and I love it. This is a b and b with the feeling of a tiny quaint hotel.
Location is perfect near everything we walk to the Ghetto, to Teatro de Marcello to the Campidoglio Museums and of course to Piazza Navona, and Santa Maria in Trastevere. TO get to Santa Maria the street Via della Lungaretta was the main via during the Middle Ages and only to walk on it if fascinating.
Service is wonderful in Arco del Lauro because they give all the useful information might dream off

I'll suggest both hotels to them....thank you so much!

Hi, I am still at Arco del Lauro, guests have free access to Internet and also local phones. I have no words to describe what a nice place this turned out to be. The room is lovely, the bathroom tiny but nice. Wooden floors, high ceilings. Also in the ground floor. No stairs to climb.
They provide guests with a voucher for a Roman breakfast that is capuccino or tea or coffee and a big croissant called corneta here. It comes filled with chocalate, mamelade, or plain.
Breakfast is served then either in the cafe inside or in tis terrace and is of course very close to the hotel.
The feeling of being welcome, and taken care of, is priceless. They honestly take care of you.The place is quiet, and quaint. The weather has been so good, we are here since Feb 23, Rome looks better than ever, except for lots of graffiti in many areas of teh city. What a sin. Today we did the t Scavi Tour and it was fascinating too.The guide was the best guide I have ever seen, her explanation was clear, to the point and excellent, we reserved long aga in Nov.2006

Hi Kerry, today March 18 th we returned from Europe, what a coincidence you wrote today. I am sure you are going to have a great time,
In Arco del Lauro you will be treated like a friend, professionally but like a friend. I was thinking only a few minutes ago what a difference with some, not all, but some hotels .
In Arco del Lauro, Lorenza sent us a car to pick us up at the Airport, with a very good driver, he charged 35 eu a good price for Rome, was waiting for us. He did not even allow us to give him a tip.
To-day in Madrid, where we were staying in a four star hotel , the Ambassador, we asked for taxi to go to the airport ( Sunday at 8 AM.) When I told him to take Maria de Molina and Avenida de America instead of the big, big loop of M-30, he was so disappointed!!!!, then to keep him honest I told him from the outset that I needed a receipt and believe me that was too much for him. He took us to the airport but it was easy to realize he was not happy.
I acted this way because when we good in the taxi I noticed it was marking like 4.80 eu, a lot, a lot because the taxi stand was only a few yards away!!!
So I did not trust him from the star.
What a difference with a place like Arco del Lauro where the take good care of you and this Madrid hotel .
